What is threading?

The art of threading is a hair removal technique which is faster, less painful and more efficient than most other hair removal systems. It's exact origin is unknown, but it is thought to have originated from Asia/Middle East. It is precise and quick, and with the fact that neither heat nor chemicals are used, it is becoming the preferred hair removal method with an increasing amount of celebrities choosing threading over other more well-known methods.

It works by using a 100% cotton thread which is positioned and twisted in a way that it traps the hair and removes it from the root. Although plucking works much the same way, threading is much faster (usually halves the time it would take to pluck), and works in agile movements making it easy to remove hair from delicate facial areas and curves.

Due to its precise technique, even the shortest of hairs can be removed, offering it as a great solution to tidying up areas in between waxing/plucking.

What are the advantages of threading?

With waxing, the first layer of dead skin is stripped off. By pulling the skin, over time, waxing can cause loose skin which leads to premature aging.

Threading on the other hand, removes hair from the follicle which means that there are no side effects like premature ageing, rashes and irritations. Furthermore, hair growth tends to become finer and more sparse, as the skin is not traumatised in any way. Threading is an excellent option for those who use Retin-A, Accutane, and similar products as they make the skin delicate.

I have seen threading done for cheaper prices, why are you more expensive?

Threading has traditionally been brought to the UK by unqualified threadists who know the technique. Due to their lack of experience and cultural background, the ones who charge very little, know very little about hair growth, contraindications (conditions that may be harmful when threading is done) and only know how to create one eyebrow shape. Due to their cheap prices, quantity is most important, which is why they work unusually fast, which causes cuts, redness, soreness, puffiness and no one to one care.

Fast threadists can also cause friction on the skin which work against many of the advantages of threading over other hair removal systems.

Your threadist, Sumantha Dutta is qualified from a Guild of Holistic Therapies accredited course and gives you a consultation to discuss your needs, and will always advise according to any skin or health conditions which may affect you from having threading done.
